Mahendra Cave resides in Batulechaur. Its a 10 minute drive from chipledhunga
the central market place of the Pokhara city.Mahendra Gupha is an impressive limestone cave. Marvelous stalagmites andstalactites formations in the cave are enough to give popularity to Mahendra Gupha.
As Pokhara is well known with hiking enthusiasts, Mahendra gupha is also an exciting
place to explore having rock formations and caves here. Mahendra Gupha is locally
known as Chamero Odhaar which means House of Bats.
Mahendra Caves were discovered by a couple


of shepherd boys in 1950 and Its name is derived from the former ruler of Nepal,
King Mahendra Bir Bikram. The depth of these caves is still a mystery.
The lightng system is also provided there to see all the rock formations but
still it is recommended to take a flashlight to enjoy a better experience of glittering
rock types and it also can be used when electricity goes off.
The shining rocks reflects and make it easier to see the ultimate beauty of the caves.
As its name suggests,one can see the hanging bats from the ceiling of the cave.
